Lily recently relocated to her beloved hometown of Pittsburgh (woo, Pittsburgh!) and is now teaching musical theater at the Center for Theatre Arts and creative expression at St. Paul's Episcopal Nursery School.
From November 2013 - April 2019, Lily worked with the exceptional team of artists and educators at McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, NJ as Curriculum and Instruction Manager. During her time at McCarter, she led a number of workshops for the theatre, for students of all ages.
While in New Jersey, Lily led professional development workshops around arts integration and Living Newspaper work for Princeton University's Teachers as Scholars program. She also directed a production of THE INSECT PLAY at Westtown School, in Westchester, PA
Before joining the team at McCarter, from 2011 - 2013, Lily worked in the Education & Outreach Department at Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida most recently as interim Education & Outreach Director.
In early 2013, Lily collected interviews for, wrote, and directed an original documentary theatre piece called Faces of Change in response to Asolo Rep's production of Clybourne Park. Faces of Change featured the voices of dozens of community members and explored change in Sarasota over the last 75 years, with special emphasis on the civil rights movement and the Newtown community. The piece was performed by community members at both Asolo Rep and at the North Sarasota Library.
In Sarasota, Lily acted as a teaching artist for Asolo Rep's award-winning programs: KALEIDOSCOPE (a devised and imaginative theatre residency for actors with disabilities) and Lend Us Your Voice (students devise and perform in originals works based off of interviews they conduct within the community).
During her time at Asolo Rep, Lily also coordinated and co-taught a Student Journalism Program, in partnership with the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and theatre critic, Jay Handelman.
Lily has led numerous one-off workshops, including several at the YMCA (Troy, NY), UrbanStages (NYC), Susquehannock High School (York County, PA), Little Lake Theatre, the Creative and Performing Arts High School in Pittsburgh (C.A.P.A.), and the University of Pittsburgh. In Sarasota, she taught live and virtual workshops for Sarasota Memorial Hospital, The Arts & Cultural Alliance, Florida State Thespians, and several schools. Her workshops have covered a wide variety of subjects, ranging from basic acting to communication in the workplace, Viewpoints to the use of movement to unlock Shakespearean text.
As a teaching artist, Lily strives to create an environment in which students feel free to take risks, challenge themselves, and explore worlds that they are not traditionally a part of. She believes that through theatre,
both the artist and the audience can learn empathy.
